First awful mod; My mate Josh went to get his ears professionally stretched to 22mm, they ended up cutting into blood vessel or something (can’t remember, I apologise) and it literally did not stop bleeding, so he ended up having to go to the hospital, where they stitched his ears up. I would show you the other picture but it’s quite… graphic.
Second awful mod; My boyfriend’s friend, Matt, decided that for his first tattoo, he wanted his hand done, and instead of having it done professionally, he wanted to do it himself. Idiot.
this guy wanted to buy some body jewelry. Here’s how our conversation went: Guy: Hey, do you work here? Yeah, I need a barbell for my piercing. Me: Oh, okay. What piercing? And then he proceeds to turn his head to show me the NASTIEST looking surface piercing on his cheek that I have ever seen. He had a fucking CURVED BARBELL in it (like what you would use for a septum piercing) and it was crusty and leaking puss and obviously infected/rejecting. Me: Um..oh..I think your piercing is rejecting.. Guy: NO IT’S NOT I’M A PIERCER. Me: Well..if anything, you shouldn’t put a straight barbell in it because it will reject quicker. Maybe one of those barbells with the 90 degree angles at the end? I’ve heard those are g— Guy: I’M A PIERCER I KNOW WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT.
Needless to say, I sent him somewhere else. I’m not going to be responsible for his face falling off >:l
I was with a friend in Claire's watching this poor toddler get raped by a piercing gun clad employee. Her mother and three other women had to hold the screaming child down as they brutally forced crappy jewelry into her young, virgin lobes. We stood there in absolute horror.
"Jag är ju den där "red-haired girl from sweden". Nej jag piercar faktiskt i ett rum som är gjort för just för att pierca i! :) Hur har det med "awful mods" att göra? Du har antagligen inte sett något jag gjort :)"
I’m that “red-haired girl from Sweden.” No, I actually pierce in a room that’s meant to just be pierced in! :) How is this related to “awful mods”? You’ve probably never seen any of my work :)
i’m a qualified body piercer, i was taught in a studio by a proffesional. taught about hygiene and sterilization etc and have done many piercings on people.
i have everything at home, autoclaves, ultrasonic, waste bins, gloves you name it. but i would NEVER pierce at home.
people dont understand how risky and quickly it is to get an infection from a poorly cleaned surface. ALWAYS CHECK THE STERILE SURFACES AND EQUIPMENT.
i could have the cleanest house but id never do it.
just because it smells clean, doesn’t necessarily mean it is.
oh and buying a ”piercing kit” off ebay (needles, bars in a packet) doesnt make it any safer. its easy to put a piece of jewelry in an autoclave pouch but has it actually been through an autoclave cycle?
it the jewelry the right size?
is the needle the right size?……you have no idea.
stop mutilating your bodies. go to a professional.
ONE MORE THING…
the amount of piercings ive seen done at home and they used to come into the studio for our help, eg taking it out, changing jewelry whatever, after you all left the shop, we laughed at you.

I used to have Vanna as a friend on facebook, and on the picture of her getting her chest done, someone said "That'll never last" and you know what she said? "It's not supposed to, it'll just leave a really cool scar" ....
Today at Claire's I saw a little girl who had just got her ears pierced. The mother was looking at some ear antiseptic to buy and I walked over and educated her. I pulled an old receipt out of my purse and wrote down how to make saline solution and told her all about how to make sure her daughter's ears heal properly and slightly less ruined than they would have been. This blog taught me a lot about stuff like that. So thanks guys!
Is it fine if I leave my septum to heal around 2 months inbetween each stretch and constantly tug on it after the first week of healing and tug on it until around 2 months later and if I dead stretch it up a mm each time and the plug fits fine each time? I'm keeping it clean and using stainless steel single flare tunnels.
Dead stretching and tugging on a piercing is never okay. No matter what.
About that 15 yr old red-haired Swedish girl who pierces and charges for it.
I asked her about how sanitary it was, sterile and such.
Translated from Swedish to English: How is it sterilised? Do you own an autoclave?Because if you only boil it, it’ll not be sterilised, only clean.
Answer: No, I don’t have an autoclave, I buy my needles in sterilised packaging and they’ll only be used once. She’s 15 years old, so I doubt she has her own studio. So she’ll probably pierce in an unsanitary home. (I really hope she hasn’t charged and pierced anyone yet)
I've read on this blog how someone should never do their own piercings on themselves but what if they are actually experienced, have a sterilized equipment including tribeveled needles, wear gloves and do whatever for everything to be clean? I pierced my own eyebrow, tongue and right side of my nostril with absolutely no problems. I also used proper cleaning techniques and have never had an infection or anything. I would never trust other people to pierce me, even if they're professional.
I can see where your coming from, but I still highly shun the practice.
Often, self piercers use bathrooms, which is actually one of the least hygienic places in the home, as well, there’s always fecal matter on surfaces etc (disgusting I know, but it’s an unfortunate fact)
I will never understand self piercing, unless you in are a professional, in a studio with a spotter, who’s also trained.
I do understand where you come from about not trusting other people, however through self piercing you never gain the viewpoint of the prospective place to be pierced that a professional will. No amount of checking can see all veins and capillaries like a professional will, especially without a small spotlight/ high powered medical torch to check for everything.
TL;DR: I hate self piercing and the thought of it.
I have a double nostril piercing and the skin in between and around them always gets really dry. Is there a way I can make this stop happening?
AH! I get this too! Bane of my foundation applying existence! I use a really cheap non perfumed/scented moisturiser for sensitive skin. It cost me about £2? I use a new q-tip/cotton bud to dab and rub on around the piercings, but be really careful not to get it in the fistula/piercing. Try using a magnifying mirror to be on the safe side, and wash the skin beforehand. there’s no ideal way to treat things like this, but I’ve found that’s the best way to help!
to every person who thinks doing your own facial piercings is okay it's stupid. i almost died from an infection that my angel bites caused. i pierced them in the mall bathroom like a dumb ass 14 year old. PLEASE go to a professional. i had to go to the doctors at 2AM because i was crying from the pain of my upper lip swelling 5x times the size of a normal upper lip. my upper-lip is permently deformed due to it. infections and blood borne diseases are NOT a joke
So today I bought wicked sick white triangle shaped gauges. ;D & I GOT SOME WICKED SICK PLUGS THAT HAVE LIKE AN IPOD MENU ON THEM? like a play; next; back; menu button. Like the circular pad thing. It's on the front of it. I wanted to get the plugs with a mustache on them, but I didn't have enough vjbweufneub.
Any idea on how much the average lip piercing costs in the UK. I want to go to a reputable piercer of course. I don't want a shoddy, misplaced monstrosity that's going to get infected and make my face fall off.
On average, they’re £25-£30 in my experience. Can sometimes be £20 as they’re now so common, but that’s average for my area at least :3
A few weeks ago, I posted a Facebook comment by a friend-of-a-friend regarding her self-piercings. I told her over and over to stop piercing herself (she’s done it numerous times) because she could end up in a hospital bed. Call me Jebus, but I knew her recent self-pierced helix would get infected. Below is a lovely picture of it (apologies for the low quality, I got it from her Facebook photos). And yes, that is a taper in her lobe. I don’t think this girl will ever learn.
(Off-topic, but I started to stretch my ears the other day using the guide on here :D)
