SUBMITTER’S COMMENT: The other day, one of my coworkers came into work with a new nose piercing, claiming she did it herself in her bathroom at home.  She did hers and my supervisor’s nose.  (Both have quite a few body modifications so I thought they were knowledgeable in this!)  I didn’t say anything to her, until the next day.  I would like to point out at this time that I work at a humane society.  We are surrounded by cats and dogs; who poop and pee and (some) vomit everywhere.  Most of them have fleas, tapeworms, ear mites, URI’s and kennel cough.  GERMS AND BACTERIA GALORE.  We are a building literally full of unsanitary conditions.  The day after she pierced her nose, she came to work and pierced her nose AGAIN in the BATHROOM of the humane society.  So not only in a building with animal germs and bacteria, but in a bathroom with human germs and bacteria.  It wasn’t even pierced correctly; rather than going in toward the face to double pierce it, she went straight down toward her mouth.  So she has two vertical holes in her nose.  She also took the ring from her tragus and put it into the second hole, which I’m sure is disgusting.  I laid it on her, telling her that this has to be the most unsanitary place to ever pierce anything.  She just rolled her eyes and blew it off.

WHAT’S AWFUL: Piercing yourself in extremely unsanitary conditions; also piercing it completely wrong.

HOW IT CAN BE FIXED: Pay the money and get your nose pierced in a CLEAN area.

 SUBMITTER’S COMMENT: a girl i know has been wanting a mermaid tattoo for a long time, and she couldn’t wait to turn 18 so she had it done without parental consent. she got it done at this run-down tattoo shop that a friend of her boyfriends works at. this tattoo artist doesn’t ask for id, and the shop is completely unsanitary, but this poor girl wanted a mermaid on her so bad that she would let anyone do it.

WHAT’S AWFUL: LOOK AT IT. The mermaids arm only has two fingers on it. The tail is disproportional. The shading in the hair is terrible and doesn’t even look like the artist filled all of it in. The “mermaid” looks like it has a bloody mouth rather than lips. The water behind the mermaid doesn’t look like water. I could go on and on, but I’m pretty sure you all can see the flaws.

SUBMITTER’S COMMENT: So, this beautiful gem showed up on my Facebook newsfeed. The girl who got it was PROUD to say she got it done at a Halloween party. Before getting it done, she was asking people if she could do it at their houses, because her mom wouldn’t let her do it at home, something about her grandma getting annoyed or something.

WHAT’S AWFUL: It’s not shaped like Minnesota at all. It goes on a downward slope where the state outline does not. It was clearly done free-hand, as the shading on the letters are not even, not even on the two ‘N’s.

Submitter comment: Dat blowout. For someone who’s successful in the entertainment industry, you’d think he’d have enough common sense to just not f*ck up his ears.  

How it can be fixed: Downsizing, and stretching back SLOWLY, sea salt soaks, oil massages or maybe even having the blowout surgically taken off.

SUBMITTER’S COMMENT: An old friend recently added me on facebook, so I went through her pictures to see what she had been up to the last couple years and I stumbled upon this.

WHAT’S AWFUL: Everything! Having your friend (a complete unprofessional) tattoo you in the unsanitary environment that is your home. The lines are simply horrid; her friends also support her and her bad decisions! She also possesses a “diamond” behind one of her ears that is just a complete blob.

SUBMITTER’S COMMENT: This is one of the most famous Tokyo street style icons. It’s not the first time she has awful-looking piercings, her body, especially her chest, is covered with scars from previous rejected piercings.She wears them until they get badly infected, she takes them out and then she gets another one and so it continues.

WHAT’S AWFUL: Wrong jewelry for a surface piercing, also it looks infected.

HOW IT CAN BE FIXED: Take it out and let it heal?

SUBMITTER’S COMMENT: Just browsing the Facebook news feed and a friend posted this picture of his girlfriend.

WHAT’S AWFUL: Look at those lines! It looks like The feather is a completely different tattoo, there is nothing good about this.

SUBMITTER’S COMMENT: I don’t have source because this is just a story;

but in middle school there was this girl who ended up getting suspended because one day she pulled a thumb tack out of the bulletin board and proceeded to pierce people’s cartilage with it. And it didn’t stop there. I walked into history class and someone had their leg up on the table and she was ‘tattooing’ a heart on them, with the same thumb tack, and some ink she took from a broken pen.

Even back then, I knew how dumb it was. I think one of the girls ears got infected or something, but it was just plain stupidity.
