liam, im just about to start stretching my ears at a 1.6mm-2mm taper, but it gets to half through and wont budge any further, got any tips?
the best way to do it is to push it through till you can feel it beginning to hurt, then you leave it there, when you can’t feel the pain at all anymore you push it further through, its also best to do it in the shower because they’re easier to push through but don’t try and force it in otherwise you might rip your ear.
This is literally a rack of unidentified, acrylic barbells (I assume they are for tongue piercings judging by the size, however) with no size/gauge measurements anywhere in sight.
They are out in the open so literally anyone can touch them, and because they are acrylic - the actual bars, not just the balls on the end - they cannot be autoclaved. Lastly, acrylic is a poor material choice for body jewellery.
Ardene, the store I took this picture in, is a branch of Claire’s so they also support using a piercing gun for all their piercings, which is another problem entirelyl
FAILURE TO ADHERE TO THESE TERMS OF SUBMISSION WILL RESULT IN THE SUBMISSION BEING REJECTED AND DELETED, AND POSSIBLY FUTURE SUBMISSIONS BEING REJECTED ALSO.
A full copy of these will be present on our submission page. Ensure you have read and adhered to them before hitting ‘accept terms and conditions’.
These will also have a page of their own to reference on the blog.
All images MUST be sourced. Not sure how to do this? Be unsure no more!
Select the photo you want to post. For this, we’ve chosen a photo from Anatometal’s website, of their Polaris Pendant.
Upload the photo by submitting it from your PC or using the image URL as a photo.
So now you’ve uploaded the photo, you need to source it. This is THE most important part about submitting - sourcing where your photos/screenshots came from.
How to source:
Copy the image URL (If it’s being uploaded from a PC, FIND THE SOURCE of the original photo. It’s not hard!)
Write the word SOURCE in the text box under the photo. It should be the first thing you write.
Select the word SOURCE and click the ‘link’ icon. Paste the URL.
(Link icon highlighted in red!)
BEFORE WRITING ANYTHING ELSE. WRITE ‘SUBMITTER COMMENT:’ AT THE BEGINNING OF YOUR TEXT, AFTER SOURCE. After this, tell us where it’s from, a bit of the relevant background info, anything you think that will give us more insight.
After your intro, write ‘What’s Awful:’ and tell us what makes it so awful!
After you’ve described what’s awful, tell us how the person in question could fix their mistakes. Use the heading ‘How it can be fixed’ or something similar. If you don’t know how to do this write ‘How it can be fixed’ HELP! and we’ll write it for you.
You have now successfully sourced, written and submitted the awful modification. Make sure you click ‘Accept Terms and Conditions’ and you’re done.
Here is what a completed photo submission should look like!
Make sure you tag accordingly! (The Source part is peeking from the top)
If it’s 18+/NSFW, write that, and we’ll sort out a read more. Those don’t work in submissions!
Hating someone is NOT a valid reason to submit them. They need to have something bad!
Racist, sexist, ableist language, excessive swearing and very poor grammar will result in your submission being DELETED. If it’s a very good submission, we will edit out any swearing and improve grammar if we feel it needed.
What not to submit
Synyster Ink (We’ve seen it before)
The picture of the wonky nipple piercing with a winged barbell (we have the backstory and it’s not a warranted awful modification)
A picture of a fake screw/nail earring. Do you know it’s real? If not, do not submit.
The guy with two badly blowout lobes and a septum piercing and tattoos. Seen it before guize!
Any questions? Come and ask us!
Please, if you read this and understand it, LIKE IT, we like to have a vague idea about how many people we need to reach!
5 days later, (now) I want to stretch to 6G. but i need tapers. fuck.
I feel very, very sorry for your ears right now. Very.
What’s awful: Jumping 3 sizes in one go, and planning on stretching to another. Ear damage, blowouts and scar tissue ahoy!
How to fix it: Take your plugs out and leave them out. In three months, go to 14g. A month after that, 12g, a month after that, 10g, a month after that, 8g, a month after that, 6g. And so on and so forth (however 0g+ should wait 2-3 months). Tapers are NOT jewellery. You don’t drill a hole for a screw, and leave the drill bit in because ‘it’ll do’. No, it won’t. The same goes for tapers. Save your ears, you’ve only got two of them!
SUBMITTER COMMENT: So she pierced her own lip. And the one thats colored brown KNOWS EVERYTHING. The one in orange is a friend of mine, i did not by any means tell him to say that. But I am the one in red. *Whats wrong with it?* Wrong placement, probably done at someones house, by her “friends” who didn’t clean anything, didn’t wear gloves and pierced it with that earring. Come on guys? I admitted to doing mine myself when I was thirteen. I got my lip pierced this past October and even he said he was piercing where the old one was because it was in the right spot. Mind you I’m 19 and that scar while not big was still there.
Today when I was at work, a girl came in and asked me if we sell “fages.” Confused, I asked her to explain. She said “you know, fake gauges. Fages.” No no no no no. Worst term ever. Then later when I was explaining to a girl not to wear tapers as jewelry, my manager (who has ears stretched to 5/8ths) asked me why I tell people that. I told her about uneven distribution and long term wear of tapers and acrylic, etc. and said “isn’t the same as wearing the jewelry you’re wearing?” I was wearing glass hanging spirals. No, it’s not the same. My ears have been healed for three years, I don’t wear these for more than a few hours at a time, they are glass.. no. Just no all around.
