Submitter’s comment: Well this is a fourteen year old i have as a friend on facebook. I can’t source my snapshots of her status but here’s a over hall of what she has posted in the last WEEK.
What’s wrong with this: Well all of this is being done out of a house. I really hope that she isn’t getting tattoos and piercings with used needles. I wouldn’t wish HIV on anyone - but i guess if your young and ignorant. Both of her tattoos have hearts in them and both half of the hearts don’t match. With her poor ear stretching - she’ll either get a bad infection or rip them.
How it can be fixed: In her case i think the damage is already done.
The tale of an ignorant teenage girl...(me, unfortunately)
Submitting my own story:
I used so stretch my right ear with silicone tunnels, way too fast and with jewelry I borrowed from others. I was lucky and didn’t have any problems, but then my left ear went to show me that shit can go horribly wrong.
I stretched up to 14mm using tapers, without too many problems. Then I wanted to have 16mm, and borrowed my friend’s silicone tunnel, thinking it’d go as well as my right ear. Boy, was I wrong.
The tunnel wouldn’t open, and when it finally did, I was in horrible pain. 2 days later, and I couldn’t touch my bright red, swollen ear anymore. I somehow managed to remove the tunnel, and blood and pus went everywhere. It was infected and had a deep rip.
Thankfully, I had dealt with an infected piercing and several wounds getting infected, so I did what I usually did: soaked it in chamomile tea twice a day, removed the crusts, and slept with a bandage soaked in a solution my doctor gave me when my anti-eyebrow piercing got infected on it.
Almost a week later, it closed up to a 3mm and is almost healed, but I’d never advise anyone to stretch too fast or with silicone. I’m going to let my ear rest after it’s healed completely, and at some point stretch up again slowly, using the taping method and massaging my lobes with oil.
Moral of the story: Never. Ever. Stretch with silicone!
The above article is an update. Her mother went to appeal to keep her out of the psychiatric ward and lost. She will be institutionalized because of her expression of her gender. She will be held until she conforms to male gender and then released to foster care, not her mother who was supporting her.
Please, if you haven’t signed the petition, sign it, reblog it, ask your friends to sign it. We’ve managed to get 40K signatures for a pageant model, we’ve only gotten 11K for a little girl about to have her life ruined. Lets get on the ball and spread the word.
These look terrible! Made of plastic glued to more plastic with plastic gemstones attached. And all of the other plugs in the store have a super-cheap-looking acrylic plug as the base as well. Some of them look very irregular. The shop has also photographed some of their plugs sitting on top of what look to be piles of glitter. Why…WHY?!
This is a story about a girl and a navel piercing...
I got my navel done because I decided there was nothing holding me back from it. I picked one of the most “professional” shops in the area. I went in, as I had done with my cartalidge, and waited for a long time. They quite frankly have a hard time keeping appointments on time. So I got it done it felt like a quick flu shot. I instantly loved it and went on my merry way. Within a week it was infected. I kept telling myself it was because I had moved back into a dorm and it must have got dirt or something in it during the move, although I felt it may be slightly off center ect. With some magic Dr. Bronners soap the infection cleared and I was relieved, and some friends reassured me it was not crooked and to trust the piercer had done it. Months went by and I got a little red bump beside the top of it. I did a sea salt soak thinking irritation, I did just come back from the gym. So quite frankly it looked funny, so I poked it. Mistake, it was an infection that exploded and bled and oozed. It didn’t hurt or smell, but sure as hell it was gross. I would not wish that surprise on anyone. Dismayed I washed it an applied tea tree oil, because the piercer had told me to if I had an infection. Eventually that healed, but the red mark persisted. And within a month it exploded again. This time I had a number of friends, some are working in the healthcare field, and some are simply knowledgeable. (I had a list of reasons not to go to the doctor, it wasn’t stupidity I didn’t go) Hesitantly we washed it and had to rinse it with alcohol. This is time it healed, for good. But everyone agreed the piercing simply “looked off”. Now it is “healed” and the problem is staring us in the face. The piercing is too shallow and has been giving me problems from day one. I had suspected it, but so many people told me to trust a “professional” piercer to the point that I ignored it. Let this be a lesson to never ignore your gut feeling. And that professionals make mistakes too. So now unfortunately the “professional” I got it done by won’t see anyone for after care I have to remove it myself, and wait for it to heal with hopes of not much scar tissue. And P.S. I am not the only person who has had issues with this place, how it keeps the title professional is beyond me! Again the lesson is: ALWAYS TRUST YOUR GUT! If you think there is something wrong, there probably is.
(I know we’re not supposed to post hate, so if anyone in or near Boston MA is trying to decide where to go and DOES NOT want the same experience please feel free to inbox me, I will disclose the place to you. I wouldn’t wish this one anyone!)
A while back, I went and got dermals on my hips and back dimples. I went to a guy who I heard was good and has been doing piercings professionally for 20 years. He did an alright job with the hip dermals. They aren’t crooked, but they are a little low. My jeans rub up against the bottom two all the time so the skin is always red and pissed off looking. I assumed that he did a good job with the back dimples. I mean, the location is pretty much already naturally marked. He didn’t seem to understand the concept, unfortunately so the dermals are about half an inch below the dimples and another half an inch to the left of each dimple. They cannot be seen because my jeans cover them. Kinda blows. Surprise surprise, the guy only charges $20 per piercing. A few months later, I decided to go get more piercings but I went to a different guy. The guy charged a hell of a lot more than the last dude, but he was a hell of a lot more accurate with the placements and I couldn’t be happier with the way they look. He did a phenomenal job! Before he did the piercings, he asked if I had any others so I showed them to him. When he saw the back dimples… oh my lord. I’ve never seen someone laugh so hard in my life. Those were THAT badly placed. So bad that the guy even offered to remove them for free. There is my awful modification story.
Submitter comment: I came across it awhile ago on Facebook. What’s awful about it? The coloring & shading is horrible & it wasn’t done professionally. and I doubt in a sterile environment . She says she likes it but honestly, i’d be ashamed to have that on my body.. How it can be fixed? Stop being a stupid teenager getting crappy tattoos that you’ll regret soon.
Summer’s here! (almost) for Europe and America (Sorry Eurasia!), which means it’s FESTIVAL SEASON! Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or a festival newbie, keeping your modifications healthy and safe is always important!
There are many precautions you can take to prevent your awesome modification from morphing into an awful one, which is quite easy when you’re in an environment full of dust, mud, sweat, bashing, crowds and lack of bathrooms!
First of all, write a damn list. It might seem stupid, but your body will thank you for it when you remembered to pack your saline wash.
Think about it, what piercings do you have that will close up if you lose the jewellery? Do you have spare jewellery you won’t mind getting lost? Do you have a pair of plugs that are safe for long term wear that you don’t mind losing? Is there a particular piercing that is pissy all the time? What salves and lotions do you need? Are you healing a piercing? These are all questions which you’ll need to ask yourself!
Here’s what my list looks like for a five day festival (I have 18 piercings)
4 1.2mm x 8mm labrets
6 1.2mm x 3mm balls
2x 12mm CBR’s
Spare pair of plugs
Salt solution in spray bottle*
2 nostril screws
2 curved barbells
Spare 4mm silicone tunnel
That’s quite a lot of jewellery to have, I know! A lot of the jewellery are pieces I purchased specifically for festivals/emergencies, or ones I bought and never wore.
In order to work out my list, I worked out how many piercings use the same jewellery. I have 5 piercings at 1.2mm that are straight! Same goes for all the other bits! The curved barbells are for my forward helices, and so on and so forth. You have a brain, you can work out what you need!
Now, for any music event, I wear tunnels. Why? I can put a CBR through them, and never have to worry about them falling out and losing it in a muddy field full of ick. It works! Make sure they’re of a large enough diameter to fit through the tunnel, otherwise you’ll waste money on something that doesn’t fit. The balls make sense of themselves, loose a ball? Stick on a new one!
Now, the gloves might have some people confused, but you DO NOT want to be messing about with your piercings (especially new ones) with grubby hands. We all know, no matter how much you wash them at a festival, you can never get them clean enough. The gloves will protect your piercings from any toilet/mud nasties lurking on your fingers.
Holey Butt’r, well, I don’t want my lobes getting irritated or dry!
*The salt solution is optional, but I bring it just in case! It’s easy enough to make. I buy a new empty pump spray bottle from Boots (Walmart will have some if you aren’t in the UK, not sure about where else in the world!.) I then make up the salt solution in any way I normally would. 1/4 tsp salt to a mug of pre-boiled water, using a funnel, it then goes in the bottle. Carry on until it’s full! Obviously you won’t be able to use it warm so you won’t get the best effect, but it’s still a useful thing to have with you if you have any healing piercings.
Sleeping with your plugs out is awesome, just, if you take them out, remember where you put them!
Don’t take all your spare jewellery out with you from the tent. If you lose your bag, you also lose all your jewellery (not that it’s the most important thing in a bag, but…), if you have an emergency, at least you have some knocking about back-at-base in the tent.
There will always be jewellery and modification stalls at festivals*, which will always carry some jewellery. You can always buy some if you don’t have any, but it is often very expensive.
*DO NOT get a piercing at a festival! It might seem fun and convenient, but ask yourself this: Do you want the pain to be on your mind the rest of the festival? Fancy having to deal with the aftercare? How are you going to keep it clean? How do you know the shop/truck/caravan/TENT?! will be clean and even adequate for piercing in? (protip, it probably won’t be), how do you know the shop/tent/caravan/truck/cess-pit’s got an autoclave and haven’t just pre-prepared? You don’t. Just. Don’t do it, lest ye regret it for the rest of the festival!
See someone in a jewellery emergency that you can fix? Help the poor guy!
Oh, and have fun!
Me and Scott will be at Download Festival, so if you fancy coming and meeting us for a hug, come let me know on my personal!
Basically, we can’t afford to pay for anything up-front, we want one where you literally just make the design, someone buys it, the company prints it, and posts it to them. We aren’t involved aside from the account’s with us.
I’ve been looking at Spreadshirt, but, does anyone else know of anywhere else? We want this to be 100% risk free for you guys, we want you to be safe in the knowledge you’re getting a good deal and a good quality shirt.
We will be taking NO COMMISSION at present, and if we ever do, it’ll be ploughed straight into charities and APP donations.
urm ok i kinda really need help, i decided to do what my friends do and stretch my ear with ( a taper i think it is?:L) idk but my mate started with a 4.5 so i thought oh i'll start with the smallest one someone ahs to give me (parents would kill me if i bought one:L) and i started with a 2.5. it took 2 hours and three people to get in because it hurt fuckloads and it still fucking hurts, it was in like this morning before 11am sometime, wf do i do it aches like fuck and im like 14
If it took 2 HOURS and 3 PEOPLE to get in and it hurt, and still hurts. Just take that out. You’ve done something so, so wrong.
Just wondered if you guys happened to have heard of this blog http://from2mmonwards.tumblr.com, I found it while searching stretched ears tabs. This girl is documenting her ear stretches, but she’s moving way too fast, causing herself pain, and not only that, she’s wearing tapers as jewelry.
AM Comment: Whilst I’m not fond of calling out other members of Tumblr, this whole blog really is going about it the wrong way. There are so many correct and useful resources on the internet, it makes me wonderful why people don’t just google it!
Submitter Comment: This is my cousin’s boyfriend’s work. He does all of his tattoos at the clients’ houses, and he’s definitely not professionally trained. I think he’s around eighteen years old, and his only experience with tattoos was tattooing himself. It’s funny because all of his work is terrible (you should be able to see it in the source link), but all of his Facebook friends think it’s so fucking great.
Oil to massage with (Emu oil, jojoba oil, Bio Oil or vitamin E oil)
No flared plug/tunnel (no, not acrylic or silicone)
KY Jelly (or any other water-based lubricant)
Most of you will have had your septum pierced at 1.2mm (16g) or 1.6mm (14g) so the first insertion pin you’ll need to buy will be at 2mm (12g).
Make sure you wash your hands with antibacterial soap (even better if you have gloves (no, not washing up gloves)
Massage your septum with the oil for a good few minutes
Take the lubricant and rub it all on the insertion pin
Start placing it through your septum, slowly but surely. You will feel a stinging sensation, but that’s normal because of the nerve endings. The slower you go, the nicer it should be for you
Once you have the pin through, get your plug or tunnel and line it up with the bigger end of the pin. Push both the jewellery and the pin towards each other AS you push it through your septum to get the jewellery through
Push the jewellery over a bit in the direction you were going, and then the other way to even it all up
It might be very sore for a few days or a week or two. That’s normal. Just keep bathing! If it swells, a hot compress is always good; warm water from the kettle on a cotton pad and press it on and around your septum.
What sizes do you go up in?
1mm. Any more and it’s going to seriously hurt and/or you could get a blowout (yes, you can get blowouts in a piercing other than your lobes)
How long will it take to heal?
Between 1-2 months usually, but please keep in mind that just because it seems fine, doesn’t always mean it’s fully healed.
What about the taping method?
The smaller the size, the harder it is to tape. It’s the same as with lobes. About 6mm (2g) is an ok size to start taping. It can be a little awkward with septums though. Depending on how loose it is, a layer or two every few weeks should be fine!
What about the dead stretch method?
Dead stretching involves using round ended (often) glass plugs in half sizes to stretch the fistula. It’s a debated method, however one that’s often used. It should only be attempted if you are able to find plugs that are in 0.5mm sizes up, if not, it’s generally not advised.
whats wrong with this you ask.. well she told me one of her clients at her work is going to do it for her.. i about screamed on the phone for her not to do it. i did however tell her that she should not do it. and she said ” dont worry she knows what shes doing” i asked where this was going to take place she replied ” oh at work” this is bad because of the following 1. she works at a food pantry that is not very tidy. 2. shes not going and getting it done professionally. im soo very mad at my mother right now.. very pissed off.
We get hundreds of asks (no, not kidding!) asking for posts of healthy stretched lobes. So, I asked my friends to send forth their lobes! These lobes are all healthy, happy, and lovely. It shows what variation of wrinkling occurs, how size affects lobe shape, and how lobes which have undergone scalpelling procedures look.
1) 1”, Scalpelled.
2) 1 7/8” - Scalpelled
3) 6mm or 2g
5) 7/16ths, after being left naked for 3 weeks
6) 7mm or 1g
7) This lovely lady bounces between 9/16ths and 5/8ths (It’s dry skin, nothing sinister guys!)
So I have this friend with stretched ears, his tunnels were like 16mm or something when i met him. They looked kinda wrinkly and red, (it did make me hesitant about starting to stretch mine), but i later found out that he began stretching his ears by HOLE PUNCHING his lobe whilst drunk at a party. HOLE PUNCHING. He then proceeded to stretch to 30mm, and i asked him how he downsized to 16 after being told you can’t downsize when you’re that big. He told me he cut it with a scalpel. i have no idea how that downsized it.
What makes it awful: IT WAS A HOLEPUNCH?!?! something that 1, physically can’t be sterilized, 2, would literally cut a chunk out of the lobe, causing permanent damage and 3, IS A HOLE PUNCH.
Found this on Youtube while I was looking up the process of tongue splitting.
What’s awful: Using dental floss instead of a scalpel, this is done in home in unsanitary conditions… (not to mention the guy smoking right in front of the guy doing the “procedure”). I was gritting my teeth the whole time.
But he was wearing gloves, so it’s sanitary, right?
