Submitters comment: I’ve known this girl for years and all throughout our junior/senior year she would come to class with new tattoos done by a “friend” of hers. Each one is obviously wonky and done in a house.

Whats awful: Horrible wonky lines from someone who obviously doesn’t know what he’s doing in a very unhealthy environment.

How to fix it: DO NOT GO TO HOME SCRATCHERS!!

SUBMITTER COMMENT: Found this whilst scrolling through Facebook, her dad has been teacher her to tattoo in their living room, she’s only 15 in this photo and her dad has been fined more than once for tattooing without license to do so.

WHAT’S AWFUL: She’s underage (15), Unlicensed and Inexperienced. Although she’s wearing gloves and they have an autoclave, that doesn’t make it a perfect tattooing environment, it’s still just a living room in their house!!!

HOW IS CAN BE FIXED: Don’t tattoo in your house, don’t tattoo without license to do so, don’t let your daughter tattoo illegally and unhygienically.

i found out like a few weeks ago that a local piercer (that i'm not proud to say i went to until i found my current piercer) isn't even certified. basically, i was wondering what it takes to actually be considered certified and if what he's doing is legal or not. i tried looking it up on google but i can't really find anything that answers my question.

It depends entirely on where you live. Some digging on your local health department’s website might get you some information.

In Florida, where I live, to become a licensed piercer all you have to do is attend a 4 hour class (usually powerpoint or video) about all of the legal stuff and a small amount of air/bloodborne pathogens training. Not much at all, right? That’s why it’s so important to do your research, because a certificate doesn’t guarantee much at all, and there are tons of places that have even less regulation than where I live.

Teenage, 15, caught using his bedroom as an illegal tattoo parlour in Blackpool → dailymail.co.uk

The only fact they’ve got wrong here is that is is STILL illegal to get a tattoo under the age of 18, regardless of parental permission.

Baltimore SCRATCHERS at their worst

Saw this “artwork” and can’t believe people actually pay money for this guy to scribble on their skin. GO TO AN ACTUAL ARTIST FOR YOUR OWN SAKE!

This douche even “matches” prices of other shops, sounds like something Walmart would do if they started doing tattoos.

Some piercer's shouldn't be trusted to pierce a microwave meal, let alone a body.

I thought your followers might appreciate this - just a story of what the tattoo removal process is really like

MOD COMMENT:

Very interesting! I’ve even seen people put thousands and thousands of dollars into laser removal and have very little improvement at all. They come in for cover-ups on their failed tattoo removals with baaaad scar tissue.

$20 Tattoos, Anyone?

(Source 1)

(Source 2)

SUBMITTER’S COMMENT: These gems are of a friend’s friend who proudly shows off his work thinking that it’s okay to scribble on other people’s skin. He is fully aware that he is not supposed to be tattooing minors but does it anyway. He charges $60 for any tattoo, but will knock it down to $20 if he thinks you’re cute - just slightly creepy.

WHAT’S AWFUL: Since when did Hello Kitty’s hands look like female pleasure toys instead of cute little mittens? The preparation and tattooing took only 10 or so minutes; he obviously didn’t take the time to make sure everything was sterilized and to tattoo with detail.  Just look how inconsistent the shading is in both photos and how wonky the lines are. All of the faces’ eyes are asymmetrical, and in the skull tattoo, their teeth are all uneven! Oh, and the Hello Kitty tattoo’s coloring ended up fading within a week.

HOW IT CAN BE FIXED: Get a cover up from someone from a highly reputable shop so that you won’t have to live with such a ridiculous mistake on your skin. Don’t go to a tattoo “artist” who knows he is doing something illegal but doesn’t even know that everything has to be in a sterile, professional environment. Van Gogh’s art is expensive for a reason, and it’s the same thing with masterpiece tattoos.

What’s awful: positioning of the bottom-right one is totally off. Also, so many tongue piercings with braces cannot be a good idea, surely?
