WHAT’S AWFUL: I don’t claim to be an expert, but I’m pretty sure that uneven/holey surface is not good for a stretched ear, especially one that’s not healed yet.

HOW IT CAN BE FIXED: do your research and don’t buy things that your ears are going to hate you for?

A sixteen year old guy uploaded this to the “piercing” group on Dayviews.com and stated that his friend tried stretching his ear with a bolt, and that this is the result.

What’s awful:

Disgusting disregard for ones personal health. Even though said uploader has seen the aftermath of poor stretching habits, he still claims nothing is wrong with doing it.

How it can be fixed:

Surgery.

SUBMITTER’S COMMENT: A girl I know has a boyfriend who got this tattoo done, the guy said it was his nickname. I found this on Facebook, and most of the comments were positive, with people saying that it was cool and they liked it. The few people that actually said it wasn’t well done got negative responses from him and his girlfriend.

WHAT’S AWFUL: The lines are off, he’s underage which means he probably got it done at someone’s house which is unsanitary. He also said he was going to add to it and put a star around it, and hopefully if he does it will be professionally done.

SUBMITTER’S COMMENT: I found this on a tattoo tag. The person said that they had a friend stick and poke them using India Ink and this was the result…

WHAT’S AWFUL: Allowing someone to stick and poke you, probably with an unsanitary sewing needle or un-sterilized piercing needle.

HOW IT CAN BE FIXED: Well thats an obvious infection…go see a doctor IMMEDIATELY.

SUBMITTER’S COMMENT: This guy does tattoos at his house (very unsanitary). He’s been tattooing everyone he can get his hands on. Even people who are underage.

WHAT’S AWFUL: Look at the line work. VERY wonky and shaky. I’m not even sure what it’s supposed to be. It looks terrible. All of his tattoos he has posted on his Facebook page look really horrid.

SUBMITTER COMMENT: This pin-up was done by a licensed tattoo artist at a shop I used to intern at. It was done in a sterile environment with sterile equipment and gloves, which of course is good. 

WHAT’S AWFUL: Despite this being done in a sterile place, the tattoo is still a bit wacky. The shading is off, the lines are a bit shaky, and the proportions are wrong.

I know there are quite a few lovely [completely awful] blowouts posted here but I thought I’d give it a go.
I use to live in the same town with this kid and thought he was a decent person until these gems came up on my newsfeed.
These aren’t your normal blowouts. Goodgawd, this is a perfect example of knowing when to just please stop.

This was number one, back in May.

This was the same day. He super glued it.

This was November 18th. Calling it “Fixed”.

And this was November 20th, two days later. He had tried to stretch again.

WHAT’S AWFUL:
I’m pretty sure this is self explanatory.
I’ve seen tons of blow outs, but holy cow, this takes the cake.
Lobes don’t just “Randomly blow out and rip”. You shouldn’t even let them get to that point. Let alone not even notice it to the point that it rips in half.
Secondly, Super glue? What? What sane person would even..?
I guess it worked for him and they healed back together, but that’s about the point you should know when to stop.
This just has stupid written all over it and I think we could all learn from this.

HOW IT CAN BE FIXED:
Just stop. Please. Stop.

SUBMITTER COMMENT: To the people commenting on the tattoo owner’s photo: When you are complementing this tattoo, are you lying or lying?

WHAT’S AWFUL: The lines are shaky. The tattoo looks like it was retraced, as some letters’ lines are doubled. Ink usage on each word is not evenly distributed, and on some, too much ink is used. The alignment of the letters are not at level. The letters are not the same shape. (Glance at the “s” in was, and the “s” at the end of mistakes) Space between the words are not equally spread out. Did the tatoo-er even care to finish the “k” in mistakes? Bless your little heart. I hope you learn from this “mistake”!

SUBMITTER COMMENT: So I’ve seen some posts about people related to/knowing a hairdresser who claims to be a licensed piercer and, while we all know this can’t possibly be true I wanted to offer a little bit of information on where it comes from for those who don’t know.
I am a hairdresser, I have a coworker who claims to be a licensed piercer. When he was in beauty school a guy came to the school selling piercing gun kits and teaching people how to “properly” use them. After some “Here’s how you wipe this down” and the like they did some test piercings, were told they were now trained professionals and were set free to pierce the heck out of each other and other students. 

Because of this lovely day in beauty school my friend is now convinced he can pierce just about anything safely and at least as well as any piercer working out of a real shop. He tried to insist he could do my nose piercing and should be the one to do it, sadly the bad information he gained in school lead him to not believing the correct information I offered him as to why I wouldn’t let him near me with that evil gun. 

So for those of you out there who weren’t aware why some hair dressers think they are or claim to be professional piercers, its because they’re being told they are after taking a short sales based course from a piercing gun salesmen. Try not to hate on these people too much, they’re victims of misinformation and should be reeducated, nicely.
