Q:i know that tapers aren't safe to wear as jewelry because the weight unevenly stretches your ears unevenly. how do heavy plugs (i.e. ones made of stone) and weighted jewelry keep from stretching your lobes unevenly. i'm currently wearing some pretty heavy hematite but i'm kind of scared that it's going to start pulling my ears down and stretching them in all sorts of funny ways.
It;’s more the shape of the taper than anything else, because it drags down on the back of the piercing, it’s more likely to go all ick, whereas stone plugs, the weight’s all even distributed throughout the plug, meaning it might put a little extra weight on the bottom of the plug, but it won’t cause the damage a taper will in any way, shape, or form :)
