Okay, just to put the term ‘gauging’ into perspective:

So, let’s take this literally. 

A gauge is a unit of measurement. So, technically when people say gauging, they technically must mean millimetering (Which obviously isn’t a word). As that’s also a unit of measurement.

So, if we’re going along with this logic. Walking is now called mile-ing. Drinking is now called liter-ing and the like.

So, I’m mile-ing to the pub later to go and liter.

DON’T USE THE TERM GAUGE. IT MAKES NO SENSE. 

TL;DR Use the term stretching or nothing.
