I agree with recordshopjayy.  I’ve known for a long time that it’s called “stretched ears”, but most of the time I say gauges because “I like your stretched ears” is just awkward.  It’s like calling ‘manga’ anime.  We get that it’s incorrect, but nobody gives a fuck.

We don’t go through years of stretching our earlobes, massaging, caring and loving them, for some idiot to come over and go SICK GAUGES BRAH! 

Also, try saying ‘I like your plugs’. That actually makes sense. 

A lot of people give a fuck. Try going to a reputable piercing shop, asking for gauges, and then getting laughed out of there for being so wrong.

A gauge is a unit of measurement. ‘Hey, I like your gauges’ is equal to saying ‘Hey, I like your kilometers’ ‘Hey, I like your millimeters’ ‘Hey, I like your miles’ ‘Hey, I like your nanometers’

See? Does that make ANY SENSE AT ALL? No? Then neither does gauges.
