AWFUL MODS

I’ve been reading a lot of these awful mod stories so I figured I’d submit my own.

When I was 13 I had finally convinced my mom to let me get an industrial bar. I went to a local piercing/tattoo shop called Cliffs that I’d been to before to get my nose pierced and such. And my nose piercing turned out fine so I trusted them. When I saw who was going to be piercing me I felt a little weird because her stretched lobes were incredibly blown out and her piercings just didn’t look healthy. Also she barely even spoke to me. Just a hello or goodbye kind of thing honestly.

She showed me the placement and I knew it was too high up on my ear but since I was 13 and she was the professional I figured I’d just let her go along with it. Once it was pierced she put the bar through and it was clearly too small. It was too small even without the swelling so I was already like uhm okay whatever you say. I went home with the piercing, cleaned it three times a day with saline solution and expected to change my bar in 6-8 months. I waited 6-8 months and my piercing was still very painful, very red, and very swollen. I knew something was wrong but I just thought it was because the bar was too small.

Once I changed the bar it felt a lot less irritated but I still couldn’t sleep on it or even lean on that side. I knew that wasn’t normal piercing pain so I continued to clean it. The entire time I thought I was doing something wrong but I followed the directions I was told to follow. After about a year and a half I ended up just taking the piercing out and putting a stud in my cartilage.  

Long story short, if you suspect there’s something wrong with the piercing you’re getting, talk about it with the person who’s piercing you. Because that woman fucked up my ear and I’m now left with a whopping fucking keloid.
