SUBMITTER COMMENT: Today, I lost a plug and went to a local piercer (D at Infusion Studio in Marysville, WA for the uninformed) to buy a piece of jewelry and have it inserted. Not only did he convince me to buy a double-flared plug, he then tried to jump my one month old 2g stretch to a 0g (in order to get the flare in), despite being clear that if I said “ow” he was to stop. When I told him stretching should never hurt, he said, “So you think you know how to do it better than me?” Yes. I do. This guy was also, apparently, good enough to have an apprentice, which horrifies me.
I went home, sea salt soaked, and will be babying it until it stops crusting. It is still bleeding now, almost two hours later. I can’t get a plug in at all and now have decided (with the advice of the BAF forums and my normal piercer, who I didn’t go to because she is an hour or more drive away, HUGE MISTAKE) to let it heal sans jewelry for six months minimum.
I understand that this is my fault, as he is known to be a bad piercer with a bad attitude, but I am furious with myself and him that I’m going to have to wait six months to start stretching over again when I had done nothing wrong up until now.
Moderator comment: This is why I say that stretching your earlobes or septum or even ear cartilage is the only mod that should be self done (with proper knowledge anyway). Stories like this happen all too often. :/ -Kat
