I feel like submittig my own story concerning lobe piercing at unsanitary shops, after seeing so many people in my environment (and on the internet) making the same mistake.
When I was a young girl, I desperately wanted earrings, so one day my mum decided to go to a local jeweller with me. It’s a reputable shop - but only relating to jewellery. My mum didn’t know a lot about piercings, so we simply went there and - of course - they used a gun. I have no clue whether they even used gloves, but of course it took place in the unsanitary, normal selling room. After a few weeks, my lobes became infected and hurt a lot, so I took the earrings out and let my ears heal. Many months later, I begged and asked for earrings, for the second time. And - oh dear - we went to the same shop, again. They repeated the whole procedure, but this time, my ears not only got infected - it was way worse. Just like in this story, the ear studs somehow got inside my lobes and stayed there.
My parents and I went to see a doctor and during an incredibly painful surgery, he successfully managed to get removed them. That event really shaped me and it’s the reason why I will always try my best to prevent people from getting piercings done in shops like Claire’s or at jeweller’s shops.

I got my cartilage pierced at Claire’s when I was 15. And it got really infected and the skin completely covered the stud, and I had to get it pulled out from the back. I was also on an IV drip for a whole day. It was a very painful experience. :/
