I decided to tell my story of a recent bad experience I had at a shop. I live in Colorado and I’ve always really wanted a second pair of holes in my earlobes. I swore this would be my last piercing (on my ears) and decided to do it late May of this year. I went to the shop I’ve went to for my last two piercings. They were good, the employees are nice and they also did two of my mother’s piercings also (though she had hers done multiple times for different reasons). So I had no reason to feel nervous about them. I felt I could trust them so when I went I unfortunately got a new employee there to do my piercings. First of all: he couldn’t mark my ears evenly. The hell? Was he not trained or just not used to doing lobes or anywhere else that needed precise evenness? Secondly, he was extremely rude. After I got fed up with him always making them uneven he had ME try to do it myself! Then he had the gall to get mad at ME because I didn’t think they were straight! So, I just have to sit and accept uneven piercing because I hurt your feelings? No, the hell, way. He actually even called me a bitch during this which I have NEVER been called before in my life and there was no reason for him to call me this under the circumstances. This whole process of moving the markings around took about 30 minutes believe it or not. So eventually I decided to leave. However, he caught me before I drove off. He said I had to pay the 20 dollars because he had already opened the jewelry. Seriously? So I decided to just go in and get it over with. I got them as even as possible and he pierced me.

WHAT’S AWFUL:

I basically did a partial self piercing because I was the one who tried to make the marks even. He wouldn’t help me. So, of course, they ended up being crooked anyway, but not as much as they would have been if he had done them ironically. Luckily I made a complaint about the jerk and got a refund so at least this amateur job was free.

HOW IT CAN BE FIXED:

If a bad situation like this happens to you just don’t get it done by them. I was unlucky because he was the only piercer there. But I COULD have asked to possibly reschedule and get it done by someone else later on if I was thinking. (I probably DIDN’T think about that because the front counter people were gone.) Report the jerk amateur and ask for your other options.
