Got a little story! (sorry for the length, couldn’t really shorten it much.)

Submitter’s comment: So a couple days ago, a friend asked me and my boyfriend to come with him and friends to get his cousin’s ear pierced. So we all went, and well, turns out he was getting pierced for free. Completely for free, in a shop. Oh and the girl piercing? She was 16. Her father was the owner, and he lets his 16 year old daughter pierce in his shop. That horrified me. Anyway, he obviously hasn’t taught her very well, she used one pair of gloves, didn’t run the needle through the autoclave, and she was opening up drawers, searching through things, and PICKED SOMETHING UP OFF THE FLOOR with her gloves on and never changed them, then proceeded to do the piercing. She also gave him standard earrings with butterfly backings. The worst part? (in my opinion.) After, my boyfriend asked me if he should get his done. I gave him a death stare and said no. By the end of the day, our friend’s ear looked like it was about to swallow that earring whole.

What’s awful: One pair of gloves, touching potentially very unsanitary things and not changing gloves. Didn’t autoclave the needle or the jewelry. Used a short earring with a butterfly backing, allowing no room for swelling. A FREE PIERCING DONE BY A 16 YEAR OLD IN A TATTOO SHOP.

How it can be fixed: Take out that awful jewelry, let your ear heal, get it repierced in sanitary conditions by a professional piercer. Learn the motto: YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.
