Q:I know that person had a completely different piercing with the balls on the inside of their mouth, but my piercer actually had to put a ball on the inside of one of my spiderbites because the flat part was digging into my lip. Then again I have braces. But I'm just saying that sometimes the balls are used on the inside by professionals even.

Yes, they are used rarely and in extreme cases, but it’s better off to just have a labret which a much larger back or a medi-lab labret which have skin-safe cushioning on the back to prevent embedding. 

Sometimes barbells are used within cheek piercings as they swell so much, labrets get embedded, but it’s recommended that labrets are used as soon as possible :)
