Submitter’s Comments: Was looking up “piercing fistula” in Google images.
What’s Awful: Dat ‘surface piercing’ lol
How to Fix: Take it da fuq out and go to a reputable shop!
SUBMITTER COMMENT: I just saw this on my dash, and for the sake of the infant, i hope this is fake.
what’s awful? does it need to be asked?? stretching an infants earlobes? are you serious?!?!
how it can be fixed: don’t mess with your babies ears, please? wait until their old enough to make that decision for themselves
(SOURCE) - Instagram, he since deleted his account
Submitter’s Comments: Found this on Instagram while searching “bodymod.” I’m pretty sure he deleted his account after I told him about himself lol.
What’s Awful?: You mean, besides the fact that he just “found” this? DON”T YOU CLEAN YOUR EARS REGULARLY??!!! Obviously not. Otherwise you would have “found” the problem before it started.
How Can This Be Fixed?: EAR CONSTRUCTION!!! Asap!
Source: Planet Silver - Tattoos, Piercings, Bakery, Tanning Salon in Woodbridge, ON. There are numerous photos posted on their website and Facebook online.
Submitter Comment: This was a surface piercing done at a popular, yet highly unprofessional piercing shop in the town next to mine. This shop does piercings, but they are also a bakery and provide services such as tanning. I have never been there, but seeing piercings they have done on people I go to school with and pictures on their website is extremely frustrating. Apparently they have over 11 years experience with piercing, and they also pierce for ridiculously cheap prices. This is just one of the many pictures of the awful piercings they do on their website.
What’s Awful: Wrong jewelry!! This is a surface piercing which has been done with a curved barbell and low quality jewelry and it is unnaturally red and inflamed.
How It Can Be Fixed: Take out the piercing to heal, go to a professional, reputable shop and wear proper jewelry!
Source: Page 88/89 of issue #21 of Inked Australia/New Zealand magazine.
Submitter Comment: Was reading this issue of Inked Aus/NZ and came across the big model spread, thought this woman was gorgeous and really loved her lobes. Then I looked a little closer and staring me right in the face were 2 ugly, blown-out lobes. Yuck! Not so attractive anymore…
What’s Awful: The fact that she has yucky blow outs, from improper stretching, and is a published modified model, especially in Inked mag.
How Can It Be Fixed: Take the jewellery out, soak & massage & shrink the lobes, then stretch back up, that can fix or at least minimise the look of a blowout.
Found this on Facebook. Girl I went to high school with had her friend pierce her monroe…with a gun.
A monroe piercing with a gun, in a dirty bedroom by someone not even wearing gloves. What isn’t awful? Luckily, this was a few years ago and since then the monroe piercing has disappeared, not sure if it was because of infection or not.
SUBMITTERS COMMENT: I randomly ran across this girl on Instagram after she liked a picture of my piercings. I was horrified when I saw her pictures.
WHAT’S AWFUL: She did these tattoos on herself, her mother, and her boyfriend. She bought all her instruments online, is not certified in anyway, and does them in her home. The one thing I can say is that at least she wears gloves. As for the tattoos, the Grandad one is my favorite: the text is crooked and cramped, the proportions of the cross are wrong and the halo is totally crooked. The same applies to the rosary on her mom’s foot, the proportions are just appalling. Finally, she did her eyebrow piercing by herself and it’s not even on her eyebrow… it’s on the skin below it.
HOW IT CAN BE FIXED: Stop torturing people with awful tattoos.
I’m stationed with him. This guy has been doing home tattoos on people and himself. Sometimes with gloves, sometimes without.
What’s awful? Unsterilized environment. Terrible line work. All around just unprofessional.
How to fix it? Stop tattooing. Let the professionals handle it.
Source: A girl who goes to my college. These are photos of herself that she posted online.
Submitter Comment: This was a surface tragus pierced by her boyfriend, who has no idea what he is doing. It was done with a low grade, externally threaded curved barbell. She also stretched her ears incredibly quickly (from smaller than 1/2” to 1” in a single semester).
Why It’s Awful: Such wrong jewelry! A curved barbell is not appropriate jewelry for surface piercings. It was also done incredibly shallow, you can see the bar through the skin. She should have stretched her ears slower as well, with proper materials.
How It Can Be Fixed: Retire the piercing and see a professional who will repierce it with an implant grade steel or titanium surface bar!

Submitter’s Comment: Long story short, this fella decided to pierce his septum and two lip piercings by himself, and use links of a chain (what looks like a clothing/wallet chain) as jewelry, then used pliers to clamp them shut. A professional had to remove the “jewelry” and parts of them were even rusted.
What’s Awful?: Self-piercing, making home-made jewelry out of a chain.
How it can be fixed?: Don’t do anything he did! Go to a professional artist and use proper jewelry.
