SUBMITTER’S COMMENT: I don’t think I need to explain what’s awful, lol. Just showing the (huge!) difference between home/friend/self-done piercings, and one done by a professional.
Yes, those bottom two images are both of myself, and yes, my septum really was pierced by Elayne. So was my philtrum :D
Go to a professional! You won’t regret it.

SUBMITTER’S COMMENT: This girl designed this tattoo herself and when you look at the original drawing it’s really not that bad, if she had gone to a professional I’m sure it would have came out much better. I asked her where she got it done because I suspected it was a home-done tattoo and she said she went to her friend’s house. I guess at least it’s on the back of her neck so no one really sees…
WHAT’S AWFUL: At home done, probably not a sanitary environment  Look at it. It’s supposed to say “Lace Up” but the P barely looks like a P, the E looks awful, really all the letters just look bad. I don’t understand why the bow looks like that and has all that empty space, it just looks off. Even with the bad instagram picture quality you can still see that the lines are wonky and some are thicker than others. Just bad!

So, there was a girl at school who told me she was getting a tattoo done…in her house. By a guy who is apparently licensed, from what i know he’s around 19, and probably a scratcher; not a professional.

This is how this type of tattoo should look:

And, this is how hers looks:

SUBMITTER’S COMMENT: The girl told me in class she was getting a tattoo done, and i was rather excited for her; until she told me it was being done in her house. I legit asked if she was stupid for making a decision like that and she responded that it was okay because she knows him. When we got back to school and I saw it in person I cringed because of how wonky it looks and from the horrible shading in it is. I asked how many years of experience the guy had and she said he had his license which…doesn’t really explain anything. She’s incredibly proud of it but everyone I’ve talked too has said the same thing I did to her. What I mostly fear is that if his outline of a really simple tattoo is this bad…what would big tattoos that include detail look like?

WHAT’S AWFUL: Everything about the tattoo, the knowledge of the girl who was tattoo’d on, the tattooist himself.

Microscopic View of Needles

awfulmodifications:

image

Source Unknown.
But I saw this as a good thing to give to the blog, showing a microscopic view of hypodermic needles after multiple uses. Since they are constructed out of the same material that piercing needles are, you can see the damage reusing piercing needles can be.

SUBMITTER’S COMMENT: This is a girl I used to go to high school with. She is a really good athlete and obsessed with basketball. I’m imagining that’s what the tattoo is for. I have no idea where she got the tattoo from but..

WHAT’S AWFUL: Wonky lines. Weird outline shading. Kinda seems off-center to me.

SUBMITTER’S COMMENT: This just makes me upset. This girl on my Facebook is actually a pretty cool girl but is making a really stupid decision. I mean, buying a tattoo gun from online, probably from eBay and then tattooing someone out of her house. What makes it worse is people are going to go and get a tattoo done.
WHAT’S AWFUL:  Untrained “artist”,  Doing tattoos in an unsanitary environment, cheap gun bought offline.

Piercing Your Own Navel (Japanese Style)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRvs5SZZoWk

SUBMITTER’S COMMENT: What’s Awful? Everything! So unsanitary.

________________________________________

MODERATOR’S COMMENT:

1. If it’s just as much as a pro, WHY WOULD YOU NOT GO TO A PRO?

2. TWO HOURS??!?!? A pro could have the piercing done in two minutes.

3. Look how shallow that piercing is. It’s like…a surface piercing of above the navel…good luck getting that to stay in.

SUBMITTER COMMENT: This is a picture from a video that came up on my Facebook news feed. Some people were having a party and someone had a piercing gun.
What’s Awful: They are using a piercing gun, which should be the worst of it but the guy is piercing his own NIPPLE with the gun. The gun was being passed around, a girl pierced her ear and another guy pierced his HAND! At least those are the 3 that I know about.Obviously it wouldn’t have been sterile, I don’t need to explain the dangers of doing this to these body parts. I can only imagine the irritation and scarification that will be caused to the hand and nipple. They could easily have spread blood borne viruses to each other.
How it can be fixed: Remove the jewelry straight away and get tested for blood borne viruses.

SUBMITTER’S COMMENT: As I scroll through my news feed on facebook, I saw that a friend of mine had liked a picture on Instagram. At first, it looked like he was drawing on himself or tattooing himself. It’s not until I read the comments that I realized that he is using a wood burner to cauterize his arm.WHAT’S AWFUL: It’s a wood burner. He’s “scarifying” himself with it. HOW IT CAN BE FIXED: …I don’t really think there’s a possible way to “fix” that without just not being an idiot. There is nothing that even seems okay with this.

my little story and advice

source

background:I was looking for a tattooist to get a new tattoo done and basically get pricing up good places, my cousin emailed me telling me she had just had her friend do her tattoo in memory of her niece that died and linked me to this picture telling me that he is amazing at tattoos, she admitted she had it done in his home and he is very new to tattoos but hes brilliant considering he’s just started, I am not sure if he used gloves but I do know it wasn’t a sterile enviroment.

whats wrong: sadly whats not wrong, the lines, colouring, text and shading are horribly done even though he is new he shouldn’t be tattooing on other people just yet.

How can it be sorted: this guy seriously needs to go get experience in a tattoo shop I know it’s difficult at first to do tattoos but he needs an apprenticeship asap to learn not to do what’s shown in this picture.

I notice a lot of people kicking off over tattooist’s like this but when it comes to being new at the job it’s hard so I think if you do see new tattooist’s who are old enough to get an apprenticeship job tell them to go get one and inform them of the right sterile way to not cause infections etc just for a bit of cash, I informed my cousin to tell her friend to not give up but go practice on paper first and seek professional advice on what to do but more then anything I told him to stop doing scratcher work in homes where infections can be formed, I hope I have given the right information as I am not a tattooist, I can understand if the person has been doing this years and just won’t listen tbh those people I would usually report as they are a health risk to others but I can be wrong C:
