SUBMITTER’S COMMENT: These gems are of a friend’s friend who proudly shows off his work thinking that it’s okay to scribble on other people’s skin. He is fully aware that he is not supposed to be tattooing minors but does it anyway. He charges $60 for any tattoo, but will knock it down to $20 if he thinks you’re cute - just slightly creepy.

WHAT’S AWFUL: Since when did Hello Kitty’s hands look like female pleasure toys instead of cute little mittens? The preparation and tattooing took only 10 or so minutes; he obviously didn’t take the time to make sure everything was sterilized and to tattoo with detail.  Just look how inconsistent the shading is in both photos and how wonky the lines are. All of the faces’ eyes are asymmetrical, and in the skull tattoo, their teeth are all uneven! Oh, and the Hello Kitty tattoo’s coloring ended up fading within a week.

HOW IT CAN BE FIXED: Get a cover up from someone from a highly reputable shop so that you won’t have to live with such a ridiculous mistake on your skin. Don’t go to a tattoo “artist” who knows he is doing something illegal but doesn’t even know that everything has to be in a sterile, professional environment. Van Gogh’s art is expensive for a reason, and it’s the same thing with masterpiece tattoos.

SUBMITTER COMMENT: So this is my friend on Facebook and she just posted a picture of a new piercing her friend gave her. I don’t get why she wouldn’t get this professionally done considering she has a job and is over 18 and wouldn’t spend the extra buck on a good job done by a reputable piercer. 

WHAT’S AWFUL: Using a straight barbell on a surface piercing which would most likely cause the piercing to migrate and reject and getting pierced at someone’s home and by someone not professional.

HOW IT CAN BE FIXED: Taking out the barbell and letting it heal and get it re-pierced by a licensed professional with proper jewelry.

Submitter Comment: These clay things came through my dashboard here on tumblr. The girl who sells them makes a bunch of other things, not earrings/plugs, that are nice on her etsy.

What’s Wrong:  Even in the picture of the tentacle ones, you can see a fingerprint on the little pink suction cup. They’re not safe to wear, and she has other ones on there. At $10 a pair, and she keeps them under a “gauged earrings” heading in her shop. Oy.

Submitter’s Comment: This kid is a total professional because we all know that alcohol and flames sterilize everything.

What’s Awful: The fact that he thinks he is a professional and that everything is clean and sterile when it is not. And the fact that he actually has “customers” Do people not care about their bodies anymore?

How it can be fixed: Find an apprenticeship, learn to pierce properly

  2. SUBMITTER’S COMMENT:  This is a girl I used to go to college with. It’s her first tattoo. I know she’s not underage and that it was done by a ‘professional’. I don’t know the name of the studio she got this but I wish I knew so I’d NEVER go there.
  3. WHAT’S AWFUL: Look at those wonky lines and the coloring is so.. terrible. A child could have done better than that. I’d be ashamed to have something like that in my skin.

(source) -the lines, the alignment, the text, it’s all awful. 

(source) -the lines, how bold the one on the right is, and thin the one on the left is, the different tails, how some things are filled in on the right fish… but not the left? Not to mention just how they are awful all around… 

(source) -the alignment! The line on the top of the tunnel, how the curve of the top of the plant is so uneven, the messed up lines on dem lips, the teeth, and not to mention all those multiple lines where she messed up and tried to fix.. 

(source) -It looks like the outline for a sketch that someone JUST started.. I mean it looks like it’s done in pencil, those fingers are terrible, I can’t tell if the woman is pregnant or holding a child, it’s not even good for a sketch.

Well they aren’t identical to begin with, but as individual tattoos they aren’t even symmetrical, the thickness isn’t consistent, the bottom parts of the anchors are just awful, and they look just like they done in sharpie..

What’s Awful: Well everything,  besides that they are awful tattoos, she is working out of her home, she calls her clients guinea pigs (and that doesn’t just scream red light, does it??) She does tattoos on herself, she’s doing COVER UPS FOR PEOPLE. She says “I DO NOT DO DUPLICATES” but I have seen plenty of designs that are online. I commented on one photo, and in a nice way told her if this was something she wanted to do, she should apprentice, practice on pig skin, and learn about tattooing before she’s doing it on peoples bodies. She should be fully aware of what is happening to the skin, what risks there are, and how to prevent infection. She should refine her art skills, and work in a professional sterile environment.. She deleted me as a friend right after, and has taken none of that advice. I also had a friend who went to her, and she had tattooed so deeply into the skin it scarred. She has tried to get it fixed, but the color wont hold on the scar tissue.

How it can be fixed: Well some of the hand tattoos she does are so big and mainly black I don’t know what besides laser tattoo removal. On other bigger parts maybe you could get them covered up? Don’t go to an unprofessional! Don’t settle on crap work..

SUBMITTER COMMENT: Aah, Etsy, when will you ever learn? Why would you promote this? 

WHAT’S AWFUL: These gems are made out of black colored copper wire, and you can even see it chipping off in some places, and promoting the ‘look’ of self piercing.

HOW IT CAN BE FIXED: Not buying them, educating ignorance.

Well, he went so far as to buy a tattoo gun and try to start tattooing on himself and slowly started to tattoo people living in his dorm building right in the lobby or just in whoever’s dorm room. Well, this piece of art he did on himself and more than likely just in his own home or dorm. Submitter’s comment: Basically this girl I went to school with and her boyfriend (his tattoo is the first one) went to a scratcher to get them done. Her boyfriend told me he paid like less then a hundred for his whole back piece and I cringed before I even saw it knowing the price he paid. The girl also has many other of these scratcher tattoos on her wrists, shoulder and other places. 

What’s awful: The shading is horrible, and the lack of sanitary conditions in the last photo makes me cringe.

How it can be fixed: I don’t have much hope for her boyfriend unless he gets laser or a huge cover-up, but not much can be done to improve these tattoos without laser or cover-up.

If it’s 100 dollars for a whole back piece tattoo, you might want to consider the quality of work.
