SUBMITTER’S COMMENT: I’m actually submitting myself on here in hopes people will read this and take their time before getting a tattoo. I was 16 when I got this done (in Idaho, you could get tattooed at 14 with parental consent.) I brought in a very clear picture of the leaves, and told him I wanted it exactly like the picture. Needless to say, I did not get it. The stencil looked like the picture, but the tattoo did not. I went back in when I was 18 to see what could be done, only to find out that the guy who did mine was fired for terrible work. I’ve gotten it “fixed” as much as I could, now it just looks like black blobs on my chest. Trust with your artist is important. If you ever feel uncomfortable, don’t do it.

WHAT’S AWFUL: Everything about this tattoo just doesn’t seem right. The shading. The lines. Everything.

SUBMITTER’S COMMENT:I found this photo from fb newsfeed. Friend of mine has done it, apparently drunk, for her friend. She has been doing tattoos for few years now and this is her handwork.. Tattooist is 24 and tattooed is around the same age. Tattooed girl has pictures from her new beauty on her fb page and tattoo shows in every photo.

WHAT’S AWFUL:Do i really have to say something?

SUBMITTER’S COMMENT: I went to high school with this girl, she is a couple years younger than me and I saw this tattoo on her Facebook. In the comments, it was evident that one of her friends (not a professional) did the tattoo for her.
WHAT’S AWFUL: The lines in the writing and the hearts are completely uneven. It looks like there are some mistake lines in the ‘e’ in ‘love’ that have been gone over again. The ‘F’ in family - good god. And the fact that it was written by a 5 year old.
Just…yikes!

PPD Based “henna” tattoos.

http://shine.yahoo.com/beauty/caution—some-temporary-tattoos-leave-permanent-scars—184102247.html

WHAT’S AWFUL: people claiming to use ‘black henna’ that the FDA has PPD in it- an approved chemical for hair color, but not directly for skin, off the scalp.

HOW IT CAN BE FIXED: be more knowledgeable about those “temporary henna tattoo” places you see on boardwalks, in parks, etc, etc. Know when it is true henna- or when you may get a chemical if left on your skin- that can ruin it.

MODERATOR’S COMMENT:

This is some scary stuff, and you guys should read it. I actually had someone come into the shop several months ago asking for help with a “black henna” tattoo, and it was not a pretty situation.

SUBMITTER’S COMMENT: This is a friend of mine.. I looked into the shop she said she went to. I’m seeing good tattoos and bad tattoos, hers is obviously one of the bad ones. WHAT’S AWFUL: Wonky lines, weird shading, it really just doesn’t look good.

SUBMITTER’S COMMENT: Submitting myself just to inform others. Now I went to a professional shop to get my dimples done, everything was sanitary and the girl seemed very informed. She took an hour to line them up, and did well with keeping my calm and getting the bars in. Sadly she didn’t consider how thick my cheeks are, and put in bars that were too short. They still stuck out a bit but NOT enough for when swelling occurred. I thought it might embed so I kept a string of cotton between the ball and my cheeks on both the inside and the outside (Smart, right?). After about a week they were embedding, and I decided to go the next day. I woke up with the inside of my right piercing inside of my cheek, I cried in front of the mirror for about an hour in so much pain trying to remove it. I returned to the shop, and spoke to a different person. She felt so bad for me, and apologized for her co-workers mistake. She numbed my cheek, and was an all around great help, and very considerate of what happened. She gave me longer bars (threaded to help in case swelling became worse) and gave me the old ones for one 6 months or so passed and I could switch the jewelry. I got lucky with my dimple piercings, so be careful guys. I contemplated and thought I knew everything (risks, bars lengths  ect) about dimple piercings, but I didn’t. So RESEARCH your shop and make sure you are 100% on your piercing.

MODERATOR’S COMMENT:
I feel like this is more of a warning for how people react when they have piercing issues. Sometimes piercings swell more than the piercer expects, sometimes something happens to cause them to have excessive swelling that is totally unrelated to the piercer. In any case, as soon as you feel like your jewelry is too short, GO SEE YOUR PIERCER TO GET LONGER JEWELRY. Don’t wait until they embed. Even if you aren’t sure if the jewelry is too short but you just have a tiny feeling it might be, go see your piercer. They can fix the problem much more easily as soon as it appears, opposed to a week later..

MODERATOR’S COMMENT:
Leave the jewelry out and let it heal. Read our Stretching FAQ. Wait longer between stretches. Stop at 7mm.

Submitter comment: I was watching a Two and a Half Men rerun and thought everyone would enjoy this little clip. It certainly made me laugh.

Disclaimer: I nor Awful Mods own or claim to own this video clip, it’s property of CBS

What’s awful: Letting his girlfriend pierce his ear and “sterilizing” the needle with liquor.  (spoiler alert: at the end of this episode, Alan’s ear “explodes” from a massive infection and he has to go to the ER)

Moderator comment:

hahahha. I remember this episode. For once, Charlie: 1, Alan: 0

SUBMITTER’S COMMENT: This man posted a picture of these two beauties and then posted “if you lades want to be in a sexy tattoo send me a topless tattoo send me a pic of you if i like it i will get it”. This man’s a real winner.

WHAT’S AWFUL: Terrible lines, shading, placement, just terrible everything. Bottom line, this is a bad tattoo.

HOW IT CAN BE FIXED: Help. I seriously have no idea.
