SUBMITTER’S COMMENT: A bit about it; this is from Oregon. This kid went (and has recently dropped out of ) my school. I’m constantly seeing him post about self tattooing, and it makes me sick.

WHAT’S AWFUL: The fact that he is self tattooing  most likely in his bedroom or germ infested bathroom etc., the fact that he is under the influence of drugs while tattooing himself, I’m going to go ahead and assume he did not wear gloves, or follow any safety precautions,.. not to mention the quality of the tattoo., the lines shakey, non-consistent and un-even. I do not know much about the needles, probably not high grade.

SUBMITTER’S COMMENT:  Here is a good one for you.  The one on the right is a “cover up”.  so i guess she just made the left equally as awful to match?  More shitty scratcher work. 

WHAT’S AWFUL:  Everything.  The point of a cover up is to make it not look like a cover up… also, nobody wants a cover up their going to want to get covered up.  Everything is uneven, the nautical stars are weird looking, this was done apparently on the couch in the background.  it’s bloody and chewed to hell… the list is endless.

SUBMITTER’S COMMENT: I was scrolling through Facebook this evening when this photo appeared on my News Feed. This tattoo belongs to a girl I went to high school with. This was part of an early birthday present and is of a passion flower. The “Believe” tattoo is not part of this submission.

WHAT’S AWFUL: The lines of the passion flower are very wobbly, the shading on the petals are uneven as well as the petals themselves.

SUBMITTER’S COMMENT: thought this was worthy of sharing, it’s not an awful modification per se. but awful public attitudes to them.

This came up on my Facebook news feed, it’s a nice thing that there’s a charity helping people remove hideous tattoos that they regret if they can’t afford it themselves, but some of the opinions stated are depressingly anti-mod :/

it’s just awful to be writing on a well read news site that -

  1. tattoos are essentially a form of self harm
  2. 3/4 of people who have them regret them
  3. it’s acceptable for workplaces to discriminate based on having tattoos
  4. if you want a job you should know better than to get tattooed in the first place

and the comments. dear god.

WHAT’S AWFUL: it might be me being picky but some of the wording looks wonky
e.g. where is says ‘your arms around’ the letters look different shapes, it might just be the style of the text though

WHATS AWFUL: The linework is shoddy, shading is off, the color goes way outside of the lines, and font is shaky. Oh and that’s not an ‘f’ in “infinity,” its and ‘e,’ so it says “To Inenity And Beyond.”  She also went back to the same guy and got more questionable work done. She said she got infections from all her tattoos and her tattooist said that it was normal to get infections with new tattoos. HOW IT CAN BE FIXED: Can it really though? Besides the shading and never going back to that shop? Help!

SUBMITTER’S COMMENT: Found while browsing my facebook feed. I feel slightly bad about posting it since I know the person and I understand why they got it, but wow.

WHAT’S AWFUL: Everything. The hearts are wonky & uneven. The letters look like they were done by two completely different artists and aren’t centered in the hearts at all. The shading is some kind of special. Just….horrible work.
