SUBMITTER’S COMMENT: Found while browsing my facebook feed. I feel slightly bad about posting it since I know the person and I understand why they got it, but wow.
WHAT’S AWFUL: Everything. The hearts are wonky & uneven. The letters look like they were done by two completely different artists and aren’t centered in the hearts at all. The shading is some kind of special. Just….horrible work.
After reading the recent submission about Body Accents down in Joplin, Missouri, I feel I need to add to the severity of that horrible situation. I won’t name the person I’m going to mention, because he’s a very close friend of mine, and I feel sorry for his bad luck in this.
A few years ago, “J”, as we’ll call him, called me up and said he was going to get a tattoo and asked if I wanted to come along and check it out when it was done. I said sure, and suggested a couple places to him that he should go for the artwork. RIGHT FROM THE BEGINNING, I told him a dozen times not to go to Body Accents, and expressed their nickname “Bloody Accidents”. I think he went there because it was cheap and they were ready to do it right on the spot. He went in with a design of a dagger, supposed to appear as though it’s stuck in the skin, with a banner reading “Family Forever” around the hilt.
Instead what he got was a butter knife that looked as if someone pulled on and pinched his skin around the horribly misshapen blade of it.
I’d also like to mention that the “artist” let both J’s brother and I sit within two feet of J as he was getting worked on, AND at one point when J was obviously as nervous as could be, this “artist” chose to turn his tattoo gun upside down and buzzed it on J’s nipple when he wasn’t looking, just because it was funny.
If you are from Joplin or the surrounding area DO NOT GO TO BLOODY ACCIDENTS.
Submitter comment: i found this on my newsfeed, this girl has been wanting a tattoo and shes been really excited about it. when i found out she got it done, i was expecting.. not this.
What’s awful: this girl is 15 or 16, the lettering is really inconsistent. some lines are really thick then really thin. really shaky lines as well
Submitter’s Comment: so, this is a friend of mine named Cody and i’ve screeched at him for awhile now because not only did he get this tattoo done UNPROFESSIONALLY, but he self pierces himself. He’s done his snake bites, septum, bridge, and his left and right nostril. It’s 1000% disgusting and horrifying. But anyways, this tattoo is very recent.
Whats Awful: Just look at it! It’s completely wonky and the lines are uneven. You can’t even tell what it is and to be honest, i dont even think he knows what it is. gO TO A PROFESSIONAL TO GET NICE SHIT! THIS IS EXACTLY WHY WE CANNOT HAVE NICE THINGS.

WHATS AWFUL: the lines are not straight. pretty sure its a home tattoo.
HOW IT CAN BE FIXED: GO TO A PROFESSIONAL!!!!!!!!!!!

Whats awful?: Obviously a stick and poke tattoo (duh) and its just unoriginal and done on a minor. If you’re going to take time to stick and poke, do something different maybe? I’m kind of tired of seeing finality symbols, peace signs and deathly hollows marks done by stick and poke.
How it can be fixed?: Go see a professional, and TRY to think of a original tattoo design. Don’t just get the first tattoo you see on tumblr 1000x times.

That’s an infinity symbol. People can get whatever they want tattooed on them. Original or not. Not everything needs to be ~custom~ and ~meaningful~. However, I do agree about the stick-and-poke thing. And pen ink isn’t something you should be injecting into your skin…

SUBMITTER’S COMMENT: I saw this in my Tumblr feed earlier this afternoon, it’s on a friend of mine. It mit just be me but it looks kind of faded and splotchy, also her hand is a bit disfigured. Again it mit just be me or the way the picture was taken.
WHAT’S AWFUL: It seems poorly done, at least by what i can tell in the picture. Her tail is splotchy and her hand is a bit disfigured, and it is faded. She is also missing lines on her upper tail around the waist. Her arms are distorted and her face is oddly shaped on her right cheek. Also if you look closely near the end of her tail the lines get wonky. This is just a bad tattoo all around.
HOW IT CAN BE FIXED: Go to a professional/more experienced artist, and get a cover up. I don’t think there is any way that it could be fixed as is. A cover up is the best option in this case.
MODERATOR COMMENT:
Honestly, I think this could be fairly easily fixed by a good artist who can rework what’s there. I don’t think a full-on cover-up is necessary.

SUMBITTER’S COMMENT:-This is my first tattoo I got, I went to a licensed tattoo artist and I’d seen some of his other work and thought he was good so I did do my research. For some reason it didn’t turn out how I wanted even though I gave him a very detailed picture and explained what I wanted but he did it wrong :/ My other tattoos are much better.
WHAT’S AWFUL: I think the shape of it is awful and the line work is really bad, want it fixed so badly.
COMMENT: linework looks poor, general appearance isnt great!
WHATS AWFUL: if this is done by a professional i question their qualifications.
HOW TO FIX IT: go talk to a profession tattooist, with a good reputation!

Submitter Comment: I was scrolling through facebook and saw a friend of mine trying to arrange a ride to go to this circus.
What’s Awful: attooing in someone’s house, tattooing of minors (my friend at least), drinking and partying while someone is being tattooed, and there is something about that text tattoo that just doesn’t look right. And that last sentence really irks me.
How to fix it: DO NOT go to tattoo parties. Who knows what kind of sickness you’re going to get. Only get tattooed in a sterile shop by a professional.
