SUBMITTERS COMMENT: Found this in my Fbook newsfeed. There’s a guy in town, who is good at drawing on paper, so he decided to buy a machine and tell everyone he’s a tattoo artist. I’m submitting this so that hopefully people can spread the word about how dangerous it is to get a tattoo done like this. He even admits to rushing through it and having to go over it a few more times!
WHAT’S AWFUL: It’s a basement tattoo, with elements that don’t fit together, and the worst script I’ve ever seen…it’s just bad!
HOW IT CAN BE FIXED: Laser removal, or a really good ACTUAL tattoo artists cover up.
SUBMITTER’S COMMENT: Here is a good one for you. The one on the right is a “cover up”. so i guess she just made the left equally as awful to match? More shitty scratcher work.
WHAT’S AWFUL: Everything. The point of a cover up is to make it not look like a cover up… also, nobody wants a cover up their going to want to get covered up. Everything is uneven, the nautical stars are weird looking, this was done apparently on the couch in the background. it’s bloody and chewed to hell… the list is endless.
SUBMITTER’S COMMENT: this appeared on my facebook newsfeed, and i’m not an expert at tattoos but this didn’t look right to me
WHAT’S AWFUL: it might be me being picky but some of the wording looks wonky
e.g. where is says ‘your arms around’ the letters look different shapes, it might just be the style of the text though
HOW IT CAN BE FIXED: -
SUBMITTER’S COMMENT: His friend of a friend did it.
WHAT’S AWFUL: the shading is horrible, uneven lines. all in all looks like a mess.
i desperately want to learn how to and start piercing people, although its not suggest i have pierced myself a couple of times and none have rejected nor gotten infected due to careful cleaning and proper “technique” or what little i have. where should i start looking? does one have to be a certain age before being allowed to pierce people? and last of all where could i find synthetic skin to practice on without the consequences of screwing up somebodies body?
If you really want to become a professional piercer, stop what you’re doing.
Don’t pierce yourself. Don’t pierce your friends. Don’t pierce “synthetic skin.”
Piercing is about so much more than just being able to stick a needle through something. Find yourself a good apprenticeship under a good (I cannot stress this enough, don’t just jump at the first opportunity you get) piercer, and they will get you started on the right path. It’s not necessarily an “easy” industry to get into, since everyone and their mother wants to be a piercer.
In the meantime, all I can suggest is doing some research. Find all the information you can, and read it three times. Use your internet resources! Comb through BME, blog posts by industry professionals, back issues of The Point. I know reading and learning is ~boring~, but if you’re looking for an exciting action-packed glamor job, you’re checking out the wrong industry.
DISCLAIMER: In case someone somehow reads my post wrong, I would like to point out that DOING THE RESEARCH I SUGGESTED DOES NOT MAKE YOU A PIERCER. IT DOESN’T EVEN NECESSARILY MAKE YOU QUALIFIED TO DISH OUT YOUR OWN PIERCING ADVICE. LEAVE IT TO THE PROFESSIONALS.
SUBMITTER’S COMMENT: This picture was posted by some girl i’m friends with on facebook. She linked me to the artist, and surprisingly..none of his work is this bad. which I find pretty weird.
WHAT’S AWFUL: Wonky lines, bad coloring. Just an overall bad tattoo.
- SUBMITTER’S COMMENT: This showed up on my facebook feed. An old friend of mine from high school… He’s insanely proud of this and gave no details on where/how he got it, but I’d be willing to bet he did it himself. Sorry for low quality.
- WHAT’S AWFUL:Looks like a flexible barbell through a surface piercing. It doesn’t even look like it’s secured on the other side.
- HOW IT CAN BE FIXED: Go to a reputable piercer, get it re-done with a surface bar. Get it out before it rejects and causes more damage.
this poped up on my feed this morning. the owner goes around thinking he is the be-all-and-final word of everything, but it seems, getting a decent piercing is beyond his grasp.
what happened? went to a shitty piercer who knows jack all. (but problably fits within this guys ideals) and bad karma
how it back be fixed. go to a decent piercer
